Barbecue joints that serve only barbeque? Great. Barbecue joints that also serve fried chicken? Sure. Barbeque joints that also serve wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas? Now that’s different. “Not all people like barbecue,” Flat Rock Wood RoomGeneral Manager Jamie Guay says. “We realize that and want to give them a choice.” Here, you’ll find thin-crust, Neapolitan-style, oven-baked pizzas featured proudly alongside barbecue, with the same dedication and love to creating it that can be found in the meats. And if you’re here for the barbecue, you’re in good hands — Flat Rock Wood Room specializes in Memphis-style barbecue, focusing on dry rubs and herbs.
“We don’t want to sauce everything up,” Guay says. If you need a sauce, you can find several varieties on each table, though you won’t see many customers using them. “They want to appreciate the pork for the flavor of the smoke.” Hickory, oak wood, or apple wood goes into the smoker the night before, and the next morning out comes brisket, sausage, pork shoulder, ribs — and let’s talk about those ribs for a second. Tender, flavorful, melt-in-your-mouth ribs; “They are championship ribs,” Guay reminds, and for good reason. But if you’re truly loyal to your Carolina barbecue, you can still sink your teeth into a delicious piece of meat. The Waygu Burger, made from a high quality, high marbled Kobe beef ground from scratch, is this season’s “it” entrée. But regardless of which entrée brings you in, when you do pull into the parking lot of Flat Rock Wood Room, you’ll likely have to do a full circle, twice, before you find a spot. Even the pouring rain doesn’t keep diners from flocking; which means Flat Rock Wood Room is clearly doing something right.

FUN FAMILY CELEBRATION LUNCH
What a great time we had at Flat Rock Wood Room this afternoon! The location was perfect to meet up with some family members from Greenville, some from Haywood County and Asheville. The variety of food was outstanding and every dish was delicious – salad, pizza, brisket, calzone, soup, pulled pork, ribs, smoked chicken, and also the sides were very good. Best of all was the hospitality shown to us. We plan to come back for sure.
Had lunch at Flat Rock Wood Room yesterday…salad was awesome with fruit and berries and added smoked chicken breast. The BBQ is the best I’ve ever eaten! Will definitely make this a frequent stop in the future.
On Thursday, I went to Flat Rock Wood Room with a group of 30-35. I had made a reservation a few months in advance. When we got there the staff were ready for us and welcoming. We did not have to wait long for our meals after we ordered. The food came out hot and DELICIOUS! The staff were very personable and attentive. I look forward to coming back and telling people about the outstanding job and delicious food we had. Thank you for making our visit so special!
LADIES RETREAT GROUP
We arrived in a 54 passenger motor coach and Jamie had graciously blocked a section of the parking lot off for us. There were 28 of us but a room was arranged to seat all of us together. Service was wonderful with Katrina taking time to go over any necessary details. A wide range of menu items were ordered and everyone was extremely happy with their choices. I had the brisket and it was the tenderest ever. They were accommodating enough to even split tickets for those that shared a meal. All in all working with them beginning several months ago to make the reservation all the way through the dinner was a great experience. I would eecommend them 100%.
We eat there a least 1 a month and sometimes twice. Never been disappointed with the meals. Salad is wonderful. Apple slaw is great. Tried almost everything you will want to go again.
Today was my first time visiting and it was fantastic. I will be back.
